Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery

Adult Cardiac Surgery Program

Clinical Academic Building
125 Paterson Street
New Brunswick, NJ 08901
(732) 235-7800

Program Description:

The University Cardiac Surgical Service is oriented towards individualized quality patient care. The patient, family and physicians know which surgeon has primary responsibility for the patient. Surgeons and/or physician assistants and/or nurse coordinators are readily available to discuss problems and procedures. A great emphasis is placed on patient education. Patient care is returned to the referring physician early after the patient is discharged from the hospital.

All aspects of adult cardiac surgery are performed, such as coronary bypass surgery with arterial conduits and valve replacement (including the Ross Procedure and state-of-the-art valves and use of stentless valves) and repair, and the insertion of pacemakers and automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators. Over 1,000 procedures were performed last year. The Cardiac Transplant Program is now available.
