Program Description:
The Functional Neurosurgery Program serves patients with Parkinson's disease and other stereotactic movement disorders who have dyskinesias or tremors not controlled or aggravated by medication. A radiofrequency lesion or high-frequency permanent electrode is placed in the globus pallidus or thalamus to inhibit abnormal circuits and improve the quality of movement.
