Program Description:

The Dementia Diagnostic Clinic offers diagnostic assessment and treatment recommendations to New Jersey residents with memory loss and other cognitive deficits, to their families and to referring physicians. All patients are evaluated by a multidisciplinary team which includes members of Neuropsychology, Psychiatry, Gerontological Nursing and Social Work. The patients may undergo a series of diagnostic procedures, including physical and neurological examinations, mental status testing, neuropsychological assessment and laboratory studies.

Extensive education about dementia and its care is provided to the families. Treatment plans are supplied to the referring physicians. Patients may then be offered treatment in either the Dementia Management Clinic or the Dementia Clinical Trials Program.
