Program Description:
The Center for Sexual and Marital Health provides evaluation and treatment services for all types of sexual dysfunction and relationship difficulties. These include specific sexual disorders, such as erectile failure, inhibited sexual desire, anorgasmia, vaginismus and dyspareunia (painful intercourse), and problems of early and delayed ejaculation.
Treatment is focused on the interaction between relationship and sexual problems, with an emphasis on the most up-to-date assessment of the physical and psychological determinant of the disorder. Patients may be seen in a variety of treatment formats, including individual, couple and group sessions. Workshop programs are offered at times to enhance and extend individual therapy. Treatment services are provided in a highly professional, academic medical center setting.

In collaboration with consultants in urology and endocrinology, the Center offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for individuals experiencing difficulty in obtaining and/or maintaining erections. The evaluation process is comprehensive and thorough so that the individual and his partner can make an informed decision about which treatment option to pursue. For men with organically based erectile disorders, vascular, hormonal and neurological assessments are offered, including Nocturnal Penile Tumescence (NPT) testing and other vascular assessment procedures. Viagra and other oral or injectable medications may be prescribed as part of the treatment process.
The Center is also engaged in clinical research studies to develop innovative and effective alternatives for the treatment of male erectile disorders.

The staff also works closely with their collegues in gynecology and the Women's Wellness Center of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in offering educational workshops and consultation.
