Program Description:

The Melanoma and Soft Tissue Oncology Program is a multidisciplinary clinical and scientific study group designed to offer a full spectrum of up-to-date treatments for patients with melanoma and sarcoma through the use of standard, innovative and experimental therapies. Services offered through this program include: skin cancer screening, sophisticated diagnosis, including lymph node mapping and other surgical options; isolated limb perfusions; adjuvant therapies, including vaccine protocols and interferon therapy; phase I trials; biological therapies, including interleukin-2; interferon; biochemotherapy; chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Some of the melanoma and sarcoma protocols are nationally sponsored through the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, and some are available only at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The Melanoma and Sarcoma Center is the clinical arm of the Melanoma and Soft Tissue Oncology Program. It operates in conjunction with UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Departments of Dermatology; Pathology; Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; and Surgical, Medical and Radiation Oncology.
