Department of Surgery
Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
The cardiac surgeons in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery use specialized techniques of coronary artery bypass surgery for those patients whose coronary artery disease requires surgical treatment. All-arterial bypass or mixed artery and saphenous vein grafting is performed as appropriate.
Our highly trained surgeons are experts in all areas of adult cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass surgery, repair or replacement of diseased cardiac valves, repair of aneurysms of heart and aorta, removal of cardiac tumors, repair of congenital abnormalities in adult patients, surgery for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias including implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators, and treatment of any cardiac trauma in support of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's Level I Trauma Center. Our cardiac surgery team uses the most advanced techniques of myocardial (heart muscle) preservation and blood conservation.
