US News and World Report Selects UMDNJ for "America's Best Graduate Schools"
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey figured prominently in the newest list by U.S. News & World Report of America's best graduate schools. The magazine's list of top medical schools for 2009 included the UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine among the nation’s best for Geriatrics, while the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School was selected for both Research and Primary Care. In the magazine’s list of the nation’s best graduate health education programs, the UMDNJ-School of Health Related Professions was picked for its Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Counseling and Physician Assistant programs. more...

UMDNJ Sends 297 New Physicians to Hospitals Nationwide
Laughter, tears and shrieks of joy erupted at noon today on the campuses of the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School moments after nearly 300 medical students nervously opened envelopes that held the most important news of their budding medical careers: their first jobs as physicians. Today was Match Day across America, the day when thousands of medical students discover where they will spend their years of residency training following graduation from medical school.

Celebrates 20 Years
The Eric B. Chandler Health Center, a federally qualified community health center, has played a key role in the New Brunswick community for the past 20 years, offering medical services to all who are in need, regardless of a person’s or family’s ability to pay. In celebration of this milestone, a gala to benefit the center will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at The Heldrich. Racial Differences in Mutation Frequency in Breast Cancer Susceptibility Gene Looked at
During a poster session this past weekend at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in San Antonio, Texas, researchers from The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) presented data, which may have implications in the testing of the breast cancer susceptibility gene BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 in young women. The research focused on the similarity in the frequency of mutations in those particular genes among young African-American, Asian and Caucasian women with breast cancer. more...
