Cystic Fibrosis CenterChildren's Health Institute of New Jersey Program DescriptionThe Cystic Fibrosis Program offers a comprehensive team approach to the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of infants, children, adolescents and adults with cystic fibrosis. The team consists of pediatric and adult pulmonologists, a pulmonary clinical nurse specialist, nutritionists, respiratory therapist and social worker. The center is accredited by the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The emphasis of care is the prevention and treatment of complications. Both medical and psychosocial aspects of the disease are treated. Patients are followed for their entire lives. A licensed clinical social worker is on staff to provide information, resources, counseling and advocacy to patients and families living with Cystic Fibrosis. Patients and familiies in need of psychosocial or financial assistance should contact the CF center and speak with the social worker. The Family Advisory Council is also in place to give patients and families a voice in the activities of the center and the care of their family members.
