UMDNJ Faculty Members Named “Top Doctors” by New Jersey Monthly

NEWARK - More than 180 faculty members at UMDNJ havebeen named “Top Doctors” by New Jersey Monthly magazine. The list, published as part of the New Jersey Monthly’s annual survey of New Jersey’s practicing physicians, appears in the November 2007 issue of the magazine. Top Docs

To compile the list, the Polling Institute at Monmouth University sent out more than 30,000 ballots to New Jersey ’s licensed doctors asking them whom they would send a loved one to in more than 40 specialties. The results showed that of the 573 physicians identified as top doctors throughout New Jersey, nearly one-third are faculty members of UMDNJ.

“We continue to be proud of all our fine physicians and are not surprised by the esteem with which they are held in their communities and throughout the state,” said Dr. William F. Owen Jr., UMDNJ’s President. “It is particularly gratifying to know that our physicians’ commitment to excellence has been so resoundingly recognized by their peers.”

Following is a listing of the physicians, broken down by hometown and county.

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) is the nation's largest free-standing public health sciences university with more than 5,500 students attending the state's three medical schools, its only dental school, a graduate school of biomedical sciences, a school of health related professions, a school of nursing and its only school of public health, on five campuses. Last year, there were more than two million patient visits to UMDNJ facilities and faculty at campuses in Newark, New Brunswick/Piscataway, Scotch Plains, Camden and Stratford. UMDNJ operates University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center in Newark, and University Behavioral HealthCare, a mental health and addiction services network.
